1 Peter 5:5 – Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (KJV)
Every month, I order a product online. At first, it was a learning experience to know what to do, what to click on, and what not to click on. Each time became easier and easier.
Then one day, the company changed the website. The first time I ordered, I did okay. The product arrived a few days later. The next month, I ordered again, and the product never did come. So I went onto the site to see what was what. It did not show that I had ordered anything at all that month. So I ordered again. Once more, the product never came.
I was frustrated, so I called a friend to help me through this process. I had done everything right, except the very last step. Away down at the bottom of the page, there was a button that said, “Submit”. I needed to click on that button. As soon as I did that, the order was sent, and the product arrived a few days later. As my friend was helping me through this, and I realized I hadn’t clicked on “Submit”, I told her that there could be a spiritual lesson in this.
Psalm 18:30 – God — His way is perfect; the word of the Lord is pure. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him. (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Romans 8:27-28 – He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. (MSG)
Let’s submit first of all to the Lord. His way is perfect. We can trust Him. He is our shield. He knows us far better than we know ourselves. He knows every detail of our lives, and He promises to work those details into something good. Submitting to others requires humility. Then God will give grace to the humble. Oh, how we need His grace!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we think we know ourselves pretty well, but You know us better than we know ourselves. We like to live in denial sometimes and not face reality. We can’t hide from You, though. Help us to be open and honest with You, submitting to You, and humbly. Help us to be open and honest with others. Help us to trust You in every detail of our lives. Help us to claim Your promise that You will work every detail in our lives for You into something good. Often we don’t see how that is possible, but Your Word is true — You cannot lie. We need You today. We give You the praise and honour and glory for all that You do in our lives. Thank You. Amen.
