When I was in my teens I learnt how to water ski, and became a reasonable slalom skier. There was nothing better than the fluency of cutting across the wake, and laying as low as possible on each turn.
Then there was the ego boost of coming into the beach where all the people were sitting, and doing a huge spray or jump or some other crazy thing, merely as a show off.
Where did the power come from? That’s right, my attachment to the boat. As soon as I let go the rope, I lost speed and power.
Ever tried to go your own way, without God? It’s a bit like heading away from the boat – where the speed and power disappear!
But if you haven’t let go of the rope, and you are heading away from the boat – watch out, your arms are going to be ripped out!
Do you have a choice in following God’s calling? As Graham Cooke, a Christian speaker, so aptly put it – there’s “no flippin’ choice”!
How’s your skiing going TODAY?
Which direction are you heading? Are you still attached?
“Take care to live in me, and let me live in you…Nor can you be fruitful apart from me.” John 15:4
