“And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.” — Luke 5:26

At one end of the hall sat Jacob.

I was seated at the other end.

And a new Lil’ Tykes dump truck was rolling down from his end to my end. But, it never made it.

Jacob, in his excitement and still-developing-motor-skills, pushed the truck a bit too much to one side and it went crashing into the wall midway down the hall.

I picked it up, walked back to my end, positioned it properly and sent it zooming back to him straight as an arrow.

He looked at me in amazement and shoved it back towards me again.

And again it went crashing into the wall, this time flipping upside down and careening wildly in circles.

I picked it up, walked back to my end of the hall and hurtled it down towards the awaiting Jacob.

A smile broke out on his face and his eyes widened as he stared in wonder at me as if to say “How does he do it?”

We did this over and over. And despite the fact that each and every time I sent it straight to him, he continued to show amazement at the accuracy in which the dump truck arrived back in his hands.

To me, of course, it was something simple and routine, nothing out of the ordinary. To Jacob, it was a herculean feat that should be marvelled at and worthy of applause and wonder.

As I reflected on our time together, it reminded me how I am amazed at my Father again and again and again.

So many times my life careens off path and sends me crashing into walls and leaves me spinning in circles. And yet my God picks me up, positions me properly and sends me straight down the hallways of life.

Over and over we do this. I mess up and seek forgiveness. He picks me up and points me back in the right direction.

And I in wide-eyed wonder, gaze up in astonishment and marvel at my Father wondering “How does He do it?”

How does He take the wicked and make him clean? How does He take the broken and make him whole? How does He take the crooked and make him straight? How does He do it?

He’s God — and to Him, it is simple, as all things are under His power. To me, it is mind-boggling, a feat worthy of praise and adoration.

Christian, today you may be off the path. Your life may be crashing into the walls of this world, careening and spinning wildy out of control. God is ready to get you back on track.

All you’ve got to do is ask Him.

Why not confess your sin and ask the Father to forgive you?

He’s waiting there at the other end of the hall.
