Hidden Residue

I was looking for a decent sized empty bottle to fill with water in preparation for a two hour drive. Surveying the situation I came across a used plastic Coke bottle that the family had consumed the previous evening.

Because I am fussy about fresh tasting water I painstakingly rinsed the bottle of all previous residue, and then just to make sure, poured boiling water into it, put the lid on, and shook it vigorously to dispense any lingering taste.

Then the bottle was filled to capacity with fresh, clear water, cap tightly fixed, and the journey began.

About one hour into the trip my mouth started to get dry and I opened the water container and took one large mouthful, only to discover that a faint Coke flavour was still in the water, despite my best cleaning efforts.

I wonder, does your life make that same impact on people? As a Christian, you have that same potential to meet someone today, and leave a distinctive flavour in their life, which can linger far beyond the initial meeting.

Here’s a reminder…

“You are the world’s seasoning, to make it tolerable.” Matthew 5:13
