Little baby Jesus, before you opened your sweet eyes
to view the stars in the Bethlehem sky
You had long ago yourself
set each and every one on high.
Before you spoke your first baby words
You spoke all things into being
You had already been the all knowing,
and the all seeing……
Before you took your first baby steps
You had walked the length and breath of the universe
groomed the flowers, trees and fields oceans and seas
even before sin entered upon the earth and man fell into the curse.
Before Mary your mother, would teach you how to pray
You had already listened and answered all
When you were called, the Great Jehovah
you heard your people call.
Before you were sent to sweet Mary’s womb
you had created her, with tender love
before she carried you with in herself
You had chosen her from above.
Before you were wrapped in swaddling clothes
you wore robes of majestic royalty
You wore the crown of life on your Holy Head
but you gave them up to ransom me.
Before you could cry for earthly food
you had created all that was ever needed
to fill the empty souls of man
and prepared the ground and saw it seeded.
Before the manger became your bed
you never slumbered nor slept
you watch all the earth with loving care
and the souls of the saints were by your hand so kept.
Before the wise men came to visit you
on their knees, rich gifts to bestow,
In heaven you had untold riches already
more then earth could count or know.
Before away in the manger, Silent night and little town of Bethlehem
you had heard the choirs of the angels sing
But precious Jesus when you hear the children
isn’t their songs a much sweeter thing.?
Before we tell the Christmas story
to friends and loved ones far or near
rebirth yourself with in my heart
Once again this year.
Happy Birthday, Dear Lord Jesus
hear from my heart of simple praise
Come O come, sweet babe of Bethlehem
Welcome thou, “o” wondrous, Ancient of days
