“And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” — Mark 16:15
It’s not enough to just go there.
I found that out too late.
Several months ago I was asked to be one of the featured speakers at a major internet marketing seminar. After checking my schedule, I accepted the invitation.
I was given all the details on the seminar, including how to promote the event with a special link that would earn me a commission when someone ordered a ticket to the seminar.
So, I sent out a mailing to my list, but didn’t sell any tickets to the event. Since I didn’t get any results the first time I tried, I decided not to try again.
The event came two weeks ago and I had a blast. My presentation went really well and everyone seemed to be very pleased with the information that I shared.
I sold a few of my products while I was there and so it was a financial success as well.
There were even a few new friendships made, and new partnerships formed for future projects.
It was a great time, and like I said, I had a blast.
UNTIL the last night of the event.
There was an awards banquet that night, with a full dinner of prime rib, salmon, chicken and all the fixins. Yum, yum. :o)
Only I wasn’t prepared for the awards part of the banquet.
Special awards and cash bonuses were given out to the top three attendees who had brought the most guests with them (sold the most tickets to the event). As they called out the names of the three folks who had brought the most, I began to feel a bit down that I wasn’t among those receiving an award.
And it got worse.
Not only did they award a special bonus for the top three, they recognized EVERY person who brought someone with them by handing them their commission check to them on stage.
One by one they walked up and received their reward.
And every time a new name was announced, I felt worse and worse. I had nothing. No reward awaiting me.
And then, it hit me.
It’s not enough to just go there.
The important thing is to bring folks with you.
I was determined that for the NEXT event (I’ll be speaking again in San Francisco this time) I WILL be bringing folks with me!
You know, the whole thing got me to thinking. And I began thinking about another awards ceremony. One that comes after this life is through and we are handed out our rewards, our crowns, in heaven. You know, the ones that we are going to place at the feet of our blessed Savior.
And folks, what a tragedy for us to be there WITHOUT BRINGING ANYONE WITH US!
Christian, there is a day — a glorious day — coming when our names will be called and rewards will be passed out for those who have been faithful to the Father.
Can you just imagine what it would be like to see folks, one-by-one being given their crowns, their rewards for leading people to the Savior — can you just imagine what it will be like to see folks taking those crowns and placing them at the feet of the very One who died on the cross…
…can you imagine watching, and knowing that you didn’t bring anyone with you, and you have nothing waiting to hand to Christ.
I don’t know about you, but I want to bring folks with me. I want to pack the place. I want to need a calculator to add up all the numbers of the people I led to Christ.
I don’t want to get to heaven empty-handed.
Christian, the Lord tells us to “Go” and “preach the Gospel.” That simply means we are to tell others about the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ.
If you belong to Him, you’re definitely headed for heaven.
But, are you sharing your faith with those around you?
It’s not enough to just go there.
The important thing is to bring folks with you.
