"Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you." (Isaiah 46:4 ESV)
"Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalm 55:22 ESV)
I read a story on Facebook last night that changed my perspective. The story doesn't matter, but a sentence caught my eye and God started talking. It was part of the verse in Isaiah 46:4, "I will sustain you and I will rescue you."
That is exactly what God is talking to me about lately. You see, God has plans for me, work for me to do, but sometimes I get in my own way. I get in my head and try to reason things out. God wants me to do this but if I do, what will that do to an already tight budget?
Tuesday night God told me to do something. I told him I couldn't afford it right then. He reminded me of my emergency fund. It's not big, but I know it's tucked away just in case. God told me to use it. Of course, me being me, "But God that's my emergency fund. What if an emergency comes up and I need it?"
God's reply, "I'm your emergency fund. I've never let you down yet and I won't in the future. Do you trust me enough to sow where I asked you to?"
Yes, I do trust God. Yes, I sowed it where I was told to. I know God is trying to yank me out of my comfort zone. Not something I am comfortable with. But I figure if God wants me out of my comfort zone, it's time to move out of it.
But that line in the story was confirmation that God wants me to go higher in Him and stop sitting still. So here I go. God use me anyway You want. I am open for whatever You have for me. I give You permission to work in my life anyway You want because I know You won't cause harm.
So take a look at your life today. Are you sitting still? Are you on fire for God? Do you need to come out of your comfort zone?
