"Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord." (2 Peter 1:2 NKJ)
"May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you." (Jude 1:2 NKJ)
I was out and about yesterday morning. On my way home I was thinking about the items I had just purchased for the church's Christmas party.
I was half-heartedly listening to the radio when I suddenly stopped thinking and really listened. The person said, "God allows us to go through pain to make us stronger."
That doesn't mean just physical pain, but also emotional pain as well.
What is emotional pain, you ask? How about a young child losing a cherished pet? What about a child watching their mother go through a serious illness. I don't care how old you are, its hard to watch your parent be ill or lose a loved pet. I have experience both and it wasn't a fun time. But God didn't send it. He allowed it to though to help you grow, to help you mature in him. Maybe to help you learn to rely on him more instead of the world.
The world can offer you all kinds of comfort and pleasure but it's short lived. God offers you love, comfort, mercy and grace forever.
I looked up how many times mercy and grace were in the Bible together. I found 45 verses on God's mercy and grace. If it's repeated 45, or possibly more, don't you think it's important. God repeats Himself so we get it. We can be a bit dense at times.
I found a song titled "Grace and Mercy" by Mississippi Mass Choir. Here is the part that got to me:
"I'm living this moment because of You.
I want to thank You and praise You too.
Your grace and mercy brought me through."

His grace and mercy has brought me through a multitude of things that I wouldn't have gotten through if not for Him. I'm sure if you thought about it, you could say the same thing. And by God's grace and mercy, He will bring you through whatever you are going through right now if you will let Him.
