But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.
(Isaiah 64:8 ESV)
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.”
(Acts 9:15 ESV)
I read a story on, yes, Facebook, last night. It was about a homeless person living in their car. It just happened to be parked in a church parking lot on a Sunday morning. This lady was infested with lice and bed bugs. She had also soiled herself that night. People walked past her but someone happened to tell a member and he went to check. In the course of talking to her he discovered she wanted to go to church but didn’t want to offend or infect anyone. This man was convicted to invite her to sit on the bench with him.
But she didn’t want to keep him from church.
He told her that church is not a building it’s a body.
Together on that bench they sang songs, read scripture and had church.
So often we get blinded by the assignments God calls us to. We put religion before relationship, protocol before calling. We have to stop looking through people, and start looking for people. We are each vessels and God has put good works in us ahead of time for us to carry out.
Sadly, many of us will pass away with unemptied vessels simply because we never sought out those defining moments for us to be poured out. Don’t go to your grave as an unemptied vessel. Pour out what you have and God will keep filling you up with more.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
