The Bible 10 Commandments vs Hillbilly 10 Commandments:
Exodus 20 KJV
1. Bible: “Thou shalt have no other God’s before me.” (vs 3)
Hillbilly: Ain’t but 1 God.
2. Bible: “Thou shalt not make any graven image.” (Vs. 4-6)
Hillbilly: Ain’t nothin comes before the Lord.
3. Bible: “Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.” (Vs. 7)
Hillbilly: Quit her foul mouthin’.
4. Bible: “Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.” (Vs. 8-11)
Hillbilly: Get your hide to a Sunday meetin’.
5. Bible: “Honor thy father and mother.” (Vs. 12)
Hillbilly: Honor her ma and pa.
6. Bible: “Thou shalt not kill.” (Vs. 13)
Hillbilly: No killin’, ‘cept fer critters.
7. Bible: “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” (Vs. 14)
Hillbilly: No foolin’ with another fellers gal.
8. Bible: “Thou shalt not steal.” (Vs. 15)
Hillbilly: No swipin’ yer kin folks’ stuff.
9. Bible: “Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.” (Vs. 16)
Hillbilly: No tellin’ tales or gossipin’.
10. Bible: “Thou shalt not covet.” (Vs. 17)
Hillbilly: Don’t be hankerin’ fer it either.
So either way you look at it, it’s the same thing. I hope you enjoyed the laugh while reviewing the 10 Commandments. It seems that they have gone out of style nowadays. People just don’t really care anymore. It’s time to go back to basics. Teach your kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, nieces, and nephews to respect values. Time is growing short. Teach your family to love God before it’s too late.
Have a great day, everyone.
