Someone Else’s Obituary

by | Feb 18, 2025 | Giving, Responsibility, Service

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests but also to the interests of others.”

(Philippians 2:4 ESV)

“Do not neglect to do good, and to share what you have, for such sacrifices, is pleasing to God.”

(Hebrews 13:16 ESV)

The church was saddened this week to learn of the death of one of their most valued members, Someone Else.

Someone’s passing creates a vacancy that will be difficult to fill. Else has been with us for many years. For every one of those years, Someone did far more than anyone else. Whenever there was something to do, it was said, “Let Someone Else do it.”

Whenever leadership was mentioned, everyone looked to Someone Else. It was common knowledge that Someone Else was a liberal giver.  Whenever there was a financial need, it was assumed Someone Else would take care of it.

Everybody expected too much from Someone Else. Now, Someone Else is gone but left a wonderful example to follow. But who will follow it? Who will do the things Someone Else did?

When you are asked to help this year, remember, we can’t depend on Someone Else.

Author unknown.

Are you a Someone Else? Do you just expect Someone Else to do what needs to be done? Someone Else is gone. Now is the time to step up and help. God needs us to fight the enemy. He needs us to spread the word that Jesus is coming soon. Don’t be a Someone Else.

Have a great day, everyone.
