I Want That

by | Jan 26, 2025 | Abandon, Boldness

“My heart became hot within me. As I mused, the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue…”

(Psalm 39:3 ESV)

“In the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:16 ESV)

“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, and serve the Lord.”

(Romans 12:11 ESV)

There’s a song called, “Abandoned” by Benjamin William Hastings:

“I’m completely, deeply, sold-out, sincerely abandoned.
I’m completely, freely, hands-to-the-ceiling enamored.
Oh, my one-life endeavor.
To match Your surrender.
To mirror not my will, but Yours.
Oh, I’m completely, deeply, don’t-care-who-sees-me abandoned.”

Abandoned by Benjamin William Hastings

That’s what I want. I want the don’t-care-who-sees-me abandonment for God. I was raised to be seen and not heard. Dad needed to be the center of attention, and he didn’t share it well. I love my dad, don’t get me wrong. But he was a hard man to live with unless you were his favorite, and I wasn’t. I know he loved me but didn’t know how to show it.

But as I get older, I pray for the boldness I crave. I think before speaking most of the time because I don’t want to make a fool of myself. But God has been talking to me. He wants me to stop being an introvert. He wants me to speak out for Him.

So my prayer today is that God gives me the boldness I need to do His will.

Have a great day, everyone.
