“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
(Acts 2:42 ESV)
“That which we have seen and heard we proclaim also to you, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.”
(1 John 1:3 ESV)
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”
(Matthew 18:20 ESV)
According to Oxford Languages, fellowship is “friendly association, especially with people who share one’s interests.” My church has dinners occasionally where we each bring something and have a meal together. We have a wonderful time of fellowship with each other, and if someone leaves hungry, it’s their own fault because there is always enough to feed a small army. For me, it’s not about the food. Sure, the food is good, but I enjoy listening to others talking and laughing. Yes, I do talk to people, too.
Fellowship with others is important. We need to be around other people. I love the fact that I live alone and have a lot of quiet time. But sometimes I get lonely. Those times are when I seek God more. Don’t get me wrong. I talk to God, and He talks to me. But there are times when I just crave human company. I have recently discovered that God has provided for that craving. I have 2 of my great grandkids before and after school and days they are out of school. I’m not that lonely anymore. I love it.
I want to encourage everyone to seek out fellowship with others. It will lift your spirits, and God will be there too.
Have a great day, everyone.
