“Do not neglect to do good, and to share what you have, for such sacrifices, are pleasing to God.”
(Hebrews 13:16 ESV)
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.”
(Luke 6:38 ESV)
Have you ever needed help? If you say no, I say you are a better person than me, or you might need to repent.
Have you ever helped someone? I was waiting for a friend at Walmart yesterday when a lady stopped beside me and asked if I needed help loading my groceries in the car. I thought that was very nice of her. I told her no. I was waiting for a friend to get done shopping.
Did Jesus ever help anyone? Let’s see. He healed the sick, He gave sight to a blind man. He healed a leper, He raised people from the dead. Just to name a few. So, yes. Jesus helped people.
We need to be more like Jesus. You see a need. If you can help, do it. So many times, we see a need and wait to see if someone else will help. That is not how Jesus wants us to be. He wants us to be helping others. But too many times, we sit back twiddling our thumbs waiting. It’s time to stop twiddling our thumbs and step up to help where and when you can.
I know that with the high cost of everything, it gets hard to help others. I have 2 neighbors who think I am their local store and come asking to “borrow” something. I help when I can, but it gets to the point that you cringe when you see them coming, wondering what they want now. But I think about all the good Jesus did, and I give what I can when I can cheerfully.
So the next time you see someone in need, ask what you can do. Don’t just walk on past them, hoping they don’t see you.
Have a great day, everyone.
