by | Jul 5, 2024 | Discipline, Discipling

“It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?”

(Hebrews 12:7 ESV)

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,”

(2 Timothy 3:16 ESV)

A show of hands. How many like autocorrect on your phone?

I have a love/hate relationship with it. Sometimes, it will correct my spelling and punctuation correctly. But other times, it gives me some word totally different than what I want.

Do you know God corrects us? His autocorrect never makes a mistake. He is just and fair when He corrects us. We may not like being corrected, but it’s for our own good. We, as God’s children, need correction and discipline just as your children need it. There are multiple verses regarding discipline. Here is one:

“Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you strike him with a rod, he will not die.”

(Proverbs 23:13 ESV)

God disciplines us as we should disclipine our children. I have seen extremes both ways. You don’t have to be harsh, but let your children know right from wrong. God has set guidelines in the Bible for us as discipline. He has told us how to be. We are to be imitators of Christ Jesus. If we follow the example Jesus set out, we can’t go wrong. So next time autocorrect messes up, don’t get frustrated. Just correct it yourself and move on.

Have a great day, everyone.
