“And he said to them, ‘Pay attention to what you hear: with the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and still more will be added to you.'”
(Mark 4:24 ESV)
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”
(John 10:27-28 ESV)
You know that feeling of going and going and going, then suddenly it’s like you hit a wall? That’s me right now. I struggled all evening yesterday to find something to write on. I had a subject. I got a few paragraphs, then nothing. Then another subject. I got the title, then nothing. Then, on the way home from church, I heard the word, “bam”! God said I had hit a wall. And that’s literally how it felt. I had just dropped my grandson off and was on my way home.
For the past few days, I have felt drained. I felt like I had nothing to give. But that wasn’t true. Every day, God gives me something to write on. Today is no different. It was just a little harder because I wasn’t listening to what God wanted to tell me. That is what is going on. We get so busy with our lives that we forget to listen. We forget to listen for our Fathers voice.
God talks to us, but do we listen? For me, evidently not like I should be. But that goes for everyone. Parents, listen to your children. They want to know that you love them and want them around. They need reassurance that their parents love them. I don’t care how old they are. Listen to what they have to say. Remember, parents, one day they will pick the nursing home you go to.
Children, the same thing. Listen to your parents. They do have important things to tell you. Don’t just roll your eyes at them and walk away.
But most of all, listen for God’s voice. He has a lot to tell us.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
