Discouraging Times

by | Apr 10, 2023 | Discouragement, Obedience, Will of God, Word of God

What do you do when you become discouraged? Do you hide yourself away or do you dig in and change the situation?

I have found that just a little encouragement can change things when I become discouraged.

“No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will never leave you nor forsake you.”(Joshua 1:5 NIV)

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” (2 Timothy 1:7 NIV)

What about when you get sick? Do people tell you that it’s nothing? Do they think you’re faking it? Can the doctor not figure out what’s wrong? That can cause discouragement.

“Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24 NIV)

“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord, because you are called an outcast, Zion for whom no one cares.” (Jeremiah 30:17 NIV)

Here’s something to think about: “He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.” (Psalm 126:6 NIV)

There is one thing to remember though. God can work better when we are obedient: “But Samuel replied, Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as on obeying the voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22 NIV)

And last but not least. If we obey God’s rules, He will take care of us: “The Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life.” (Psalm 121:7 NIV)

Isn’t that good news? Our Heavenly Father watches over us. He keeps us safe, He heals us, He provides for our needs. He loves us unconditionally.

Have a blessed day everyone.
