“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10 ESV)
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” (Exodus 14:14 ESV)
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” (Psalm 37:7 ESV)
There are times when you try and try and try. It’s like beating your head against a brick wall. All you accomplish is giving yourself a headache. Those are the times you just need to be quiet and let God talk to you. By being still you can hear God’s voice, He can finally get through all the noise so you can hear.
There’s an old song called, “Silence Is Golden”. I believe it. Silence is where I hear better. In the silence you can better hear God. You will be able to hear what He has to tell you.
There are so many verses about being still. Being still has good points. You are able to meditate on verses, you are able to clear your mind of things. It’s also easier, at least for me, to pray. I have found that if I turn off the television, I am more peaceful. If I could just turn off the men gathering next door, it would be great. But by being still and focusing on God, things will work out so much better.
So give it a try. Find a comfy spot, turn off the tv, radio or whatever. Just sit in the quiet and praise God. See if you don’t feel better and can smile more after spending time with God in the quiet.
Have a great day everyone.
