“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.”
(Psalm 103:13 ESV)
“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand.”
(Isaiah 64:8 ESV)
Fathers! Everyone has one. You may not know who he is or you may not like him. But you have a, or had, a father.
Today is Father Day. Today we celebrate our fathers. Please tell me you did not get your dad a tie. I guess unless he likes ties then it’s ok. As we celebrate our fathers, let’s not forget our heavenly Father. He is the one who ultimately gave us life. He planned us. He decided who would take care of us throughout our life. He knew exactly what was going to happen in our lives before we were even born.
If I had the choice, I would have changed a few things or did some things differently. But God knew what was going to happen before I did. He knew my biological dad was not going to be a very good dad. But God also instilled in me a great love for Him. I loved my dad, but he didn’t know how to love back. He came from a family who didn’t show love.
God has more than made up for that. He shows me love every day. If nothing more than just waking me up to another day. But He shows so much more love. He provides for my needs, keeps me healthy and loves me beyond measure. Did you know God loves you too? He does. He loves you with his whole heart. Do you love him back? I really hope so. Who else but your heavenly father will love you unconditionally?
So Dads, raise your kids with love, compassion and understanding. Bring them up to love the Lord.
Happy Fathers Day! Hug your dad for me since mine is in heaven now.
Have a great day.
