“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.”
(John 14:15 ESV)
“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do what I tell you?”
(Luke 6:46 ESV)
I think we all know the story of Jonah and the whale. For those who don’t, read Jonah in the Bible. God called Jonah to go to Nineveh. Jonah didn’t want to. It’s not a good idea to tell God no, but Jonah ran. I guess he thought God wouldn’t be able to find him. Wrong!
Jonah got on a boat to go to Tarshish. A big storm came up and Jonah ended up being thrown overboard. God had prepared a large fish to swallow Jonah. Can you imagine being swallowed by a whale? And then to actually live in it’s belly for 3 days and nights! Then Jonah finally got smart and prayed. The fish coughed him up.
Do you really think Jonah thought God wouldn’t know where he went? I want to know how Jonah survived the stomach acid from the whale’s stomach. Oh I know, God protected him. Just like He protects us when we disobey. God doesn’t send down lightening bolts to destroy us. Or at least I don’t think He does. I haven’t seen it anyway. But God protects His own. Jonah was His and he was going to obey or face the consequences. In this case, living in the belly of a whale for 3 days.
So if you find yourself in the belly of a whale, pray. God will open a door for you to escape.
Have a blessed day and stay safe everyone.
