Psalm 145:9-10 – The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works [the entirety of things created]. All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, and Your loving ones shall bless You [affectionately and gratefully shall Your saints confess and praise You]! (AMP)
Most mornings, our family dog and I patrol the mile-long stretch of rural road that passes in front of our home in central Midwestern Ontario. One bright winter morning about a month ago, the sun shone from the east-southeast, and a slight breeze stirred from the northeast as “Chewie” and I walked southbound. The air before us wondrously filled with shimmering flecks.
“Wow, Lord, I have seen dust motes plenty of times. This is new. Silver glitter in the air. Do I see sunlight reflecting from fine airborne snow crystals carried by the breeze?”
“Celebrate the luxury!”
“Luxury?”
“You have time to be here. You can see and marvel. Luxury.”
“Luxury?”
“Treasure this moment like a gold nugget.”
“Gold nugget?”
“Start a collection. Each day there is at least one moment when you think ‘Yes!’ Marvel, give thanks, enjoy, or lose yourself in delight in something of My creation. Pay attention. Make note of these gifts of blessing. Consider each one you find a gift.”
I did begin to note my blessing for each day with a word or two written on my calendar. Those few moments invested in recording my daily treasure feed my soul more than I can say.
Prayer: O Father, thanks for gifting us with golden moments each day to treasure as blessing! Give us eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart that understands — Your heart. Help us by the Holy Spirit to pay attention to Your presence with us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
