clipboard Heb 10:22: “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith…”
Jas 4:8: “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. “
“It’s recycling!”
Have you ever noticed that your cat or dog shy away from some small, unharmful object? Well, of course, it isn’t a bad thing, because you can easily regain control over them. You know that whatever it moved away from won’t hurt them.
But have you ever had a pet that got scared so much, that it took about forever to get them under your control again? If you have had this happen to you with your dog, then never ride a horse down the street where the neighbors park their trailer on garbage day. Why? Because horses are very scared of garbage cans, horribly frightened of recycling bins, and absolutely terrified of trailers. Trust me. This happened to me once. The horse I was riding, Justin, shied all the way to the other side of the road when he saw a trailer. It was until we were about a kilometer from it when we managed to reach the correct side of the road again!
But that is not all. I found out later that sometimes, horses shy away from garbage, right in front of cars!
The only time that horses don’t shy from garbage is when they are really tired. In fact, when they are tired, they actually walk into garbage! I wish they were tired all the time!
Those horses remind me of humans. We often try to avoid God, like horses do to recycling, and just like they shy out in front of much worse danger, we, by avoiding God, also put ourselves in much worse danger, eternal punishment. We need to be more like tired horse and go straight towards Him, not away from Him like a normal horse.
