Looking Upward to Heaven

by | Jun 8, 1998 | Heaven, Poem

Looking upward to Heaven, knowing it’s not my time to go.
Feeling the poetical fill, my life is never slow.

My future was changed by cancer, faith was hard to keep.
Again looking inward, I have found it imbedded deep.

Looking upwards, I see a mighty mountain to climb, a large crest.
My spirit doesn’t waver in Christ, I found rest.

There are many rocks a precarious situation to overcome.
Steady onward I bear my trials with Jesus, my needed thumb.

Looking upward I will not languish my position, Heaven waits.
Only Christ knows my years which will pass, my final fate.

The road is surpassed with ruts, crevices of despair and pain.
My faith will lead me though with blessing rain.

Looking upward to Heaven, knowing it’s not my time to go.
Feeling the poetical fill, my life is never slow.

My future was changed by cancer, faith was hard to keep.
Again looking inward, I have found it imbedded deep.
