We worry way too much about life, and not enough about the Kingdom,
which, by the way, doesn't need any worrying! After all, the Good News
came through quite clear: "You canceled my ticket to hell- that's not my
destination!" (Ps 16:10, MSG) This is cause for celebration, not for
worry.
In addition, "Now you have arrived at your destination: By
faith in Christ you are in direct relationship with God." (Gal 3:25-26,
MSG) This is where we become vibrant and fully alive. The worries from
the past become nonexistent, and now that we are experiencing our
Heavenly Father, nothing can lead us astray.
Although I love
where I live, I always feel so much at home when I return to the city of
my birth. The sand, the North Sea and the salty air invigorate me. Just
walking in the streets where I was born brings back many memories of
people I loved, but who are no longer with us. Even though the apartment
where I was raised has been vacated, I still feel right at home.
Still, this experience is pale compared with the time I entered a
Messianic Synagogue many, many years ago and I felt God's Spirit for the
first time. I fell in love with my Heavenly Father, and I yearned to
experience Him more and more. I would drive two hours every week to
Toronto, just to experience God's Holy Spirit. He became my everything.
I finally felt at home--my real home!
At first I associated His
presence with this Messianic Synagogue in Toronto. Soon I discovered
that He was present in other churches as well, some of them in my own
neighborhood. I didn't have to drive so far to experience God, He had
taken up residence in me. Wherever I went, He was with me. I am at home,
no matter where I am, and when I am at home, I have nothing to worry
about. My Dad will take care of everything. I have arrived at my final
destination.
My home is not any longer my birth place. My
destination now is my Heavenly Father. We are truly strangers on our way
to heaven. There is no place like real home!
"And I will ask the
Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever-
the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither
sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will
be in you." (John 14:16-17, NIV)
Where is your home?
