"And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years." (Genesis 6:3 KJV)
A few years ago, someone told me that before God, there is no time. Recently, I searched the Scriptures and saw John's vision in Revelation 7:14-a revelation of events that hadn't yet happened. This wasn't just a vision; it was God showing John the future! We see John's interaction with the elder and we would understand from the use of tense that this is not talking about a future but what had already happened; this shows us that God took John to a point in time after the events of the end of time; the beginning of the end. This confirms that before God, time is nothing. Truly, the secret things belongs to God.
Time began for man at his fall in the garden of Eden. Adam and Eve had been enjoying eternal fellowship and communion with God, they had been enjoying a sin-free life and had been living carefree, just tending to the Garden of Eden and anticipating daily fellowship with God. For them there was no tick-tock nor the need of a watch.
In fact, they didn't rush to do anything because they had all the time in the world. There was no urgency, procrastination, patience, waiting or aging. Einstein's theory of time was a foreign concept to them. Can you just imagine that? Day and night for them just meant that they must rest in order not to overwork the body, that's all.
But the moment man sinned everything changed. Adam and Eve suddenly found themselves dealing with issues that they had never encountered before. They started to age and as their strength began to wane, urgency came in; urgency to understand more about the world before dying, the urgency to leave a legacy became overwhelming, practical urgency to secure resources, making choices that would not waste time, urgency of building relationships with loved one because they won't be around forever, Eve discovering that menopause was setting in and that she had to give birth before a certain time, then they became so busy that they suddenly had no time; that was how the rat race began; the daily struggle to accumulate wealth.
Most importantly, mortality meant losing daily, one-on-one fellowship with God. They couldn't ask God about confusing matters, and communication with Him became harder. The repercussions of a single disobedience were far greater than they expected. So, the watch isn't just a device to track the day; it's a reminder of life's fleeting nature.
In the midst of this reality, there is one truth from John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (KJV). This Scripture shows us that by clinging to God, we gain something even better than Eden-eternal life in heaven with God. At this time, the Bible says, "there should be time no longer" (Revelation 10:6 KJV).
Have you been caught in the rat race, forgetting about the end of time? It's time to wake up before time ends!
Prayer: Lord, at the ending of time I want to be in heaven with You.
