"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household." (Acts 16:31 NIV)
Ever since I began teaching, I had always wron a cross to school. I remember one year, when I was teaching grade 2. All these kids noticed my cross. They would announce to the entire school: "My Teacher is a Christian!" The kids were excited, and the parents were as well.
All through the years, the simple act of wearing a cross worked to encourage my students to want to know Jesus. I remember the first class I had in the region where we now live. I was teaching a Grade 7 class. Students often mentioned the cross, and I often talked about it. Some students would come to me at recess with questions about God. I would answer them, and then I'd figure the conversation was over for good. I was wrong.
The next year I was assigned to a different school. I was so happy when three of my former students came to see me one day at my new school. "How are you?" I greeted them. "I am so glad to see you!"
They were all excited, and they couldn't help talking over one another; but the jist of the message was the same: Each of these former students had accepted Jesus into their lives. They had come to thank me for leading them to Christ.
One of the three students was looking for babysitting jobs. As I had two young children at that time, my wife and I used her services often. A few months later, she told me she had decided to become a missionary. She felt this was God's calling on her life.
Wow! And all because I wore a cross to school!
Did I save these kids? No way! God used me to plant a seed; but He continued to work on their hearts to the point that they wanted to share Jesus with others as well!
God is amazing! His miracles are everywhere. He is always there for us. He cares!
