Today's Bible Verse:

Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

The Choice

As a guard at the local RCMP detachment I see many types of people in cells. Some are quiet and reserved and sleep their time away. Others are loud, rude and obnoxious. While still others display anxiety, knocking on the cell door continually, asking why they are there and when they will get out. Hour after hour, every ten to twenty minutes they will repeat this scenario even though they receive the same answer each time.

Sometimes I have found that I can be like this with God, especially if I find myself in a fearful or unpleasant situation. How long God? How much more time? When are you going to come and open up a way? Why am I here? What do you want from me? And so it goes, hour after hour, even day after day. Perhaps you too relate to this cycle of anxiety. Perhaps you are even caught up in this relentless frame of mind right now.

If so choose to be still and know that He is God. "He will be exalted among the nations, He will be exalted in the earth. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." Psalm 46:1-3

God is in control. God knows your situation. God will deliver you at just the right moment. God will grant you all you need not only to be at peace but to have victory amidst the confines you are struggling against if only you will choose to be still and know that He is God.

In today's world many people know about God. But not so many know God. The difference is a matter of faith. With every situation of struggle, which comes our way, we are also granted opportunity: Opportunity to read scripture and know about God. Or opportunity to read scripture, choose to place our faith in its truth and know God.

Which will we choose today?

Prayer: Father God we believe, help us in our unbelief that we might know you more and more each day. Teach us we pray to continually cultivate the practice of learning to be still and know that you are God. In Christ name we pray. Amen.

3. Basking in God's Unfailing Love, An Open Invitation to Experience God Personally
