"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." (Psalm 147:3 NIV)
"'For I will restore health to you and heal your
wounds,' says the Lord." (Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV)
Winter was all but gone and spring
was in the air. Feeling invigorated, I headed out into the sunshine for
some final winter fun on the skating rink at Victoria Park. I struck a
pose, and struck the ice; ending the outing and breaking my wing. My
cast colour was Toronto Maple Leaf blue. During that same week my niece
broke her leg. The air was cool and the snow on the ski slopes
shimmered. Her skis were fast, but the snow beneath them shifted. The
cast on her leg was bright neon green. The following week, a friend and
her child weren't seeing eye to eye. Feelings were hurt, bags were
packed, and a bedroom stands empty. Relationships forever altered, and
hearts broken. Emotional wounds concealed within these earthly bodies
are now left alone in the dark to either fester or mend on their own.
We can't always see another's affliction. A bright cast eagerly
grabs our attention and invites us to express our concern or offer
assistance. Unfortunately, matters of the heart, mind, and emotions, can
be more difficult to detect. Those, whose wounds are invisible to us,
often don't receive our compassion and support unless they alert us to
their need. Fortunately, God sees all of our hurts and needs; whether
hidden or in plain view. He knows all about our heartaches and worries.
He always knows what we need, when we need it, and how to deliver it to
us. He is well able to mend broken bones and hearts. His help is only a
prayer away.
Loving Father, Thank you for equipping and using
skilled Doctors and medical personnel as agents of healing. Guide their
hearts, hands, and minds, as they do Your work in this world. Thank you
for using friends, family, and the kindness of strangers to minister to
us in times of need. May our words and actions be a blessing to someone
today. Dear Lord, bind up our wounds, heal our hearts, forgive our sins,
and restore our health. All of these things we ask in the precious name
of Jesus, for by His stripes we are healed. Amen.
