Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
(Ephesians 4:29 ESV)
Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide, his lips come to ruin.
(Proverbs 13:3 ESV)
The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.
(Luke 6:45 ESV)
Words have power. What do you profess?
I have been saying, “I’m tired.” Guess what? I’m tired. So I quit saying that. I said that the other day when God asked, “Are you really tired?” I was stopped in my tracks at that. I started thinking about what I was saying. I found out quickly that things were coming out of my mouth that should have stayed inside of me.
How many times do you hear idle gossip and can’t wait to pass it on? I have been guilty of it, sadly. God wants us to live free. He doesn’t want us tied down to what comes out of our mouths. We need to guard our mouths. It will be our ultimate downfall. So the next time you feel like saying something that doesn’t build up but has the possibility of hurting, don’t say it. Bite your tongue and move on.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
