Happy Birthday Jesus

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

(Isaiah 9:6 ESV)

“She gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a manger because there was no place for them in the inn.”

(Luke 2:7 ESV)

“Therefore, the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son and shall call his name Immanuel.”

(Isaiah 7:14 ESV)

Today, we celebrate the birth of Jesus. We learned Sunday that Jesus probably wasn’t born in December. Scripture says the shepherd’s were in the field watching their flocks. So it was probably still fairly warm. But that doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that Jesus came to earth to save us. That is what is important.

Just think, if Jesus had not been born, would we still be doing burnt offerings? I, for one, am glad Jesus was born.

I did some research about mangers back then.  According to AI Overview:

“When Jesus was born, mangers were wooden or stone troughs or boxes used to feed livestock like cattle, horses, and donkeys.
Shape: Mangers were low to the ground, with a rounded base and sloped sides, making them well-suited to hold a baby.
Material: Mangers were made from clay mixed with straw, stones held together with mud, or carved from natural rock outcroppings.
Location” Mangers were found in stables, corrals, or caves, wherever livestock were kept.”

I’m not sure they would be very comfortable for a baby, but that was what Jesus slept in for a while. So, as you go about the hustle and bustle of the day, remember to wish Jesus a happy birthday.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
