A Lesson in Trust

by | Nov 3, 2024 | Protection, Provision, Trust

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

(Proverbs 3:5 ESV)

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?”

(Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)

I got a lesson in trust yesterday. I drive an older car. I went to finish my grocery shopping. The closest grocery store is 10 miles away. I know that’s not a long way, but when you drive an older car, it could be a very long way if it breaks down. I got to Walmart. I reached over to get my purse and cell phone. The purse was there. Cell phone wasn’t. I had left it at home. I took a deep breath and sighed it out as God said, “Trust me.” That’s all He said. That’s all I needed to hear. Yes. I trust God.

On the way home, dread and fear tried to weasel its way into my heart. I stood against it, I prayed and then prayed in tongues. As I entered the city limits, I smiled as God said, “See?” I knew what it meant. That simple word meant “See? I got you home with no problems. You didn’t need your phone.”

I am tied to my cell phone. It holds all my phone numbers. I used to memorize phone numbers but don’t have to anymore. They are on my phone. This thought crossed my mind on the way home. How would I get hold of someone if I broke down? I don’t know any phone numbers. But by trusting God, I made with no problems.

And you can too. If we trust God for the big things,  the little things will be taken care of, too. I hope you trust God for all things.

Have a fabulous day, everyone.
