Watch Out for Strife

“And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.”

(Revelation 12:9 ESV)

“Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

(James 4:7 ESV)

“And they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil after being captured by him to do his will.”

(2 Timothy 2:26 ESV)

I have been talking about the devil a lot lately. And I am going to again. The devil is the cause of strife and unrest. He is the father of lies. The devil comes to whisper lies in your ear. He will tell you that a person is making fun of you or that a person is spreading rumors about you. He stirs up strife and discontentment, causing riffs in relationships.

Why do you think so many churches have splits in their congregations? The devil whispers in someone’s ears that the pastor has done something wrong. Or the pastor preached an untruth. The rumor starts spreading, and soon part of the congregation leaves. I can imagine how that pastor must feel.

I went to a church that split once. I don’t know why, but half the congregation left. The devil got to someone, and it spread from there.

I want to encourage you not to listen to lies the devil spreads. If you have an issue with someone, go talk to them before doing something rash. Pray about it. God will set you straight.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
