Peace of Mind

by | May 27, 2024 | Anger, Frustration, Patience, Peace, Worry

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you because he trusts in you.”

(Isaiah 26:3 ESV)

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

(Matthew 5:9 ESV)

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

(John 14:27 ESV)

Have you ever had one of those days where things just didn’t quite go the way it should have? Yesterday was that day for me. I won’t go into detail, but it was a frustrating day for me. Every time something went wrong, I wanted to get angry. But I didn’t get mad, just frustrated. Which is almost as bad. But I held my temper when my phone decided my password for voice mail was wrong. Then I got locked out for 30 minutes. I got a new password, which didn’t work either. But after almost an hour with customer service and having to reset network settings, it finally works again. Now I hope I remember my new password. I did write it down. Somewhere.

But things go wrong. That’s a fact of life. But we don’t have to let them get to us. We can let things roll off of us and smile. Jesus is my rock. He is there to keep me grounded and peaceful. But I do have to help. I have to keep my temper in check and not let it blow.

“Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. He said to them, ‘It is written, “My house shall be called a house of prayer,” but you make it a den of robbers.’”

(Matthew 21:12-13 ESV)

Do you think Jesus was mad in the temple? I do. They had turned the temple into something it should not have been. But overall, I think Jesus was pretty mellow. He had peace of mind. Jesus knew what He was here for and did what needed to be done. We need to follow Jesus’s lead and stay calm and peaceful.

Have a great day, everyone.
