10 Shortest Bible Verses

by | Apr 10, 2024 | Bible, Word of God

1. John 11:35: “Jesus wept.” — Did you know Jesus cried? Why wouldn’t He? He was human.

2. 1 Thessalonians 5:16: “Rejoice always.” — Good advice. We need to rejoice. Google defines rejoice as “feel or show great joy or delight.” It’s always nice to feel joyful.

3. 1 John 4:8: “God is love.” — Absolutely. There is no greater love than that which comes from our Heavenly Father.

4. 1 Thessalonians 5:19: “Do not quench.” — What does quench mean in the Bible? “To quench is to extinguish or to put out, like dumping water on a fire. Paul is warning us here against hindering the work of the Holy Spirit.”

5. 1 Thessalonians 5:20: “Do not despise.” — This is always good. We should never despise anyone. I despise liver, but I think that is ok.

6. 1 Thessalonians 5:21: “Test all things.” — It’s good to test things. Follow the Holy Spirits guiding. He will show you if it’s good or not.

7. 1 Thessalonians 5:22: “Abstain from evil.” — It’s always a good idea. Evil is just that, evil. Something to stay away from at all times.

8. Romans 12:12: “Rejoicing in hope.” — We must see our future with him as more precious and satisfying than any other treasure. That is what “rejoicing in hope” is: being satisfied with all that God is, and will be, for us in Christ.

9. 1 Thessalonians 5:18: “Give thanks always.” — Give thanks for everything. God provides for us. Thank Him for it.

10. 1 Thessalonians 5:17: “Pray without ceasing.” — No explanation is needed. Just pray!

All were short verses. But they all have an important message and place in the Bible.

I pray everyone stays safe. Have a great day. God loves you, and so do I.
