Life Isn’t Fair

“Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.”

(1 Samuel 12:24 ESV )

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

(Colossians 3:23-24 ESV)

I have an email friend who asked my opinion on why I thought life isn’t fair. It took all of 1 second to answer her. My answer to her was this:

“Life isn’t fair. Why do people have to live long lives with dementia and small kids die before they have a chance to live? Life isn’t fair. Why do some people have everything they could possibly want practically given to them, and others work hard just to barely if at all make ends meet? Life isn’t fair. But we serve a mighty God.”    “”And we do serve a might God. It is all in His hands. There are reasons why that we aren’t supposed to know.

While working many years in various nursing homes and volunteering on the ambulance, I saw so much. Why did this person die so young while a 90 year old lives in a vegetative state or wander the halls in the nursing home deep in dementia? Why did a baby die before even getting to live its life? Why is a baby born with a life-threatening condition? Life isn’t fair.

But one thing to remember is that everyone has a purpose in this life. God has a plan for everyone. It’s our job to find that plan and live it.

So, I want to encourage you to pray. Ask God to reveal His plan to you and then start living it. You are here for a reason. God doesn’t make mistakes, and you are not a mistake.

Have a great day. Happy Easter.
