Fear Is Not Acceptable

by | Mar 23, 2024 | Fear, Peace

“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

(Psalm 56:3 ESV)

“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

(2 Timothy 1:7 ESV)

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

(Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV)

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

(Psalm 34:4 ESV)

While researching fear, I found a place that states, “Fear is spoken of over 500 times in the KJV. Furthermore, in addition to the “Fear nots” many times the Bible teaches us to “Fear God,” which really means reverence God alone and do not fear anyone or anything else.” So my take on this is that we are not to fear anything except God.

I asked a former pastor about fearing God.  How can I fear a loving Father? His reply was to “not fear what God does for us but to fear what will happen if we aren’t saved.” That made sense to me.

I once had a lot of fear. Storms terrified me. But after holding onto a metal gurney in the middle of a storm cured me of that. Now I just sit in my recliner and watch them roll in. We have nothing to fear as long we have God in our corner. He will calm our fears and soothe our rattled nerves. But we have to do our part, and once fear is gone, don’t let it back in.

God wants us living in peace. In the world we live in now, peace can be hard to find. But God gives it out in abundance. You just have to ask. I feel God’s peace a lot. It is so relaxing and calming. I love living in that kind of peace.

If you need peace in your life and who doesn’t, ask God for it. He won’t withhold it from you.

Have a great day, everyone.
