Cornerstone

“Built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone,”

(Ephesians 2:20 ESV)

“The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”

(Psalm 118:22 ESV)

“But he looked directly at them and said, “What then is this that is written: “‘The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone’?”

(Luke 20:17 ESV)

What is a cornerstone? According to google, a cornerstone is “a stone that forms the base of a corner of a building, joining two walls.” Or “an important quality or feature on which a particular thing depends or is based.”

There’s a song called “Cornerstone” by Hillsong Worship:

“My hope is built on nothing less.
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.
And I dare not trust the sweetest frame.
But wholly trust in Jesus’ name.
When darkness seems to hide His face.
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale.
My anchor holds within the veil.”

Christ alone, cornerstone
Weak made strong in the Savior’s love
Through the storm
He is Lord, Lord of all.

(Cornerstone by Hillsong Worship)

Jesus is my cornerstone. He starts my foundation in Christ. My belief is based on Jesus. He is my protector, provider, Savior, confidante. Jesus is always here for me. He never leaves me. No matter what I may be going through, Jesus goes through it with me, guiding me through. Storms of life come and go. Some are just little storms that last a minute, and others seem to go on forever. But Jesus is there with you.

I had a shepherd collie mix dog that I grew up with. I saw that dog beat up a great dane and send it home with its tail between its legs. But you let a storm roll in, and that dog was laying on my feet shivering until it was over. My big brave dog was afraid of thunder.  But he knew who to go to for comfort. And so do I. I run to Jesus. I fall at His feet and ask for mercy and grace.

Jesus comforts me and reassures me that things will be fine. No matter how things look, Jesus is there for you and me. So next time you are having issues, run to Jesus.

Have a great day.
