Build Up Not Break Down

by | Jan 17, 2024 | Encouragement, Kindness

“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV)

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”

(1 Peter 4:8-10 ESV)

I have known some people in my life who never had a good word for anyone. They could have been handed the keys to a brand new car, and they would have complained it was the wrong color or didn’t have everything they wanted on it. They were never  satisfied with anything. They grumbled and complained about everything. They must never have heard the phrase, “you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.”

We should be building others with encouragement instead of complaining. A kind word goes a long way and will have a ripple effect. A kind word will be passed on, causing kind words to be spread. Just a smile can brighten a person’s day. It does mine.

I read somewhere that it takes fewer muscles to smile than to frown. Plus, you just seem friendlier when you smile. Do you think Jesus went around with a frown on His face all the time? I don’t think He did. don’t think He did even when the devil was trying to tempt Him. I think He was amused, thinking the devil thought he could get Jesus to sin.

Don’t let the world get you down. Smile and make people wonder what you  are up to.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.
