Praising God

by | Jan 11, 2024 | Praise, Surrender

“Through him, then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.”

(Hebrews 13:15 ESV)

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!”

(Psalm 150:6 ESV)

“My mouth is filled with your praise and with your glory all the day.”

(Psalm 71:8 ESV)

I saw this on Facebook the other day:

“Them: Why do you raise your hands when you worship?
Me: Isn’t that what a child does when they want held?”

Author Unknown

I never looked at it that way before. There are some good things on Facebook. But it is true. When a child wants to be held, they hold their arms up to you. And what do you do? You pick them up. What loving person could deny picking up a child who wants to be held?

We are children of God. When we raise our hands in praise, we are asking our loving Heavenly Father to pick us up and hold us.

I haven’t been sleeping very well for a few days. I asked God to hold me in His arms and give me sweet sleep Monday night. And He did. I fell asleep easily, with no aches or pains, and my sinuses were actually clear. I slept soundly all night. I woke up around 7 and felt great. If you aren’t sleeping well, do what I did.

God loves us. He wants the very best for us. So next time you raise your hands in praise, reach out to God to hold you. He will not let you go.

Have a great day .
