The Great Equalizer

by | Dec 22, 2023 | Death, Heaven, Salvation

“And the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.”

(Ecclesiastes 12:7 ESV)

“And do not fear those who kill the body but can not kill the soul. Rather, fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

(Matthew 10:28 ESV)

I was on my way to the Sunday service when I got passed by a truck. Now, that doesn’t always bother me, but this person was really pushing the limit. He passed me and two others in front of me. As I pulled up a stop light, I realized that the same truck was right in front of me. Stop lights are great equalizers.

Death is a great equalizer also. It doesn’t matter how rich or poor you are. You aren’t going to be able to take your wealth with you when you die. I have talked to people who are afraid to die and to people like me who are not afraid. Why am I not afraid? I know where I am going when I die.

If you are afraid to die, do you know where you are going, or is it you are afraid of how you will die?

I would prefer to go peacefully in my sleep. I really don’t want to drown or die in a fire or mutilated in a car wreck. But either way, peacefully or horribly, I will still end up in heaven.

I encourage you to think long and hard about eternity. Time really is getting short.

Have a blessed day.
