What to Write?

“One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.”

(Proverbs 12:26 ESV)

“Therefore, encourage one another and build one another just as you are doing.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV)

It was a busy day yesterday. My tank was on empty. I had no idea what to write about. God was suspiciously quiet. So I started searching for a topic. Then God got chatty. He said to write about how you feel and I will help you. So here goes.

The past couple of weeks have been super busy. I made cookie dough, baked cookies, made bar cookies, and then candy. I did have  good help, though. I am still trying to get over all the baking while getting ready to make Christmas dinner for some of my neighbors who have nowhere to go.

Then God said, “How do you feel now?” I thought about a minute. Ok. I actually feel ok. I did all of that baking because I wanted to give something to special friends. With finances the way they are for people nowadays, people need a little cheer.

God said, “Now you are on the right track.”  I got to thinking about the lonely. That could be me. We need to spread a little cheer, not only at this time of year but all year long.

Do you even think about the people who have no family? Is there anything you can do to help them? I was in Walmart yesterday waiting for my car to get done when this older man made a statement about the key machine. I put my phone down and talked to him for about 15 minutes until my car was done. I found this man’s history in those 15 minutes. He said he has very little family left, and he gets lonely.

I know residents in nursing homes get lonely. If you find yourself with a time to kill. Go to a nursing home and just walk a hall or two, talk to the residents. Or sing carols. Seek out the lonely. You might just find a new friend or, at the very least, brighten someone’s day.

Have a great day, everyone.
