“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
(1 John 1:9 ESV)
“But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
(Matthew 6:15 ESV)
The sermon yesterday was directed straight at me. It’s like Pastor has been with me the past few days.
I had an incident on Thursday. I cooked for some of my neighbors who had nowhere to go. Little did I know what would happen. A friend was helping me. We set out buffet style. It was a very nice table. It was a get and go meal. One neighbor was first in. He dug through the turkey, taking the lion’s share of everything. By the time my friend and I got to eat, there wasn’t much left. I have been ranting and raving to myself all weekend. That’s why the sermon was directed straight at me.
I took notes. Boy, did I take notes. The one thing that is still sticking with me is “Forgiveness is warfare.” I can fight the devil just by forgiving my neighbor. So I did. And every time the devil brings it up, I will again forgive.
Unforgiveness opens doors that you really don’t want to open. Once you open that door, the devil has a free pass to you. It’s best to close that door and nail it shut. It’s time to let go of unforgiveness, bitterness, guilt, and doubt. Let go of past hurts. It’s time to forgive.
Maybe you need to forgive yourself, too. Think about it. What have you done in the past you weren’t happy you did? Forgive yourself.
I hope you all have a great day. And Pastor, great sermon!
