“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.”
(Proverbs 18:21 ESV)
“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.”
(Ephesians 4:29 ESV)
I have talked several times about words having power, but some people just don’t listen. They keep griping and complaining and then wonder why things go wrong for them. Words have power!
What comes out of our mouths should not always be negative. People get tired of people who only speak negative things. I can’t count the number of times someone has told me “if it wasn’t for bad luck. I’d have no luck at all.” First off, luck has nothing to do with it. Your negative words do, though.
Let’s try an experiment. Try being positive for a week. Let go of the negative attitude and see what happens. I have found that after being around people who only gripe and complain, they bring me down. I am exhausted after I get away from them. I know things happen, and we need to vent. But everyday, all day? I am getting too old for that.
When I gave my life back to God, He gave me a positive attitude. Granted, it wasn’t overnight. But over time, He taught me how to drop the negativity and live a happy, peaceful life. I just need to learn how to distance myself from the negativity people.
We need to keep a watch on our mouths. I have noticed more and more people who are saying some not very nice words. All I can say is that words like those should not be coming out of a Christian’s mouth. Ever! So keep a guard on your tongue and stay positive.
Have a great day, everyone.
