“For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!:
(Ecclesiastes 4:10 ESV)
“My father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”
(Psalm 27:10 ESV)
I was visited last night by a neighbor I casually know. She decided to come over just before I would be getting ready for church. She needed some papers copied and was told I have a printer. But the biggest reason was she was lonely. She is saved. Her husband had been a minister before he passed away. After she left, it was too late for me to go to church. By the time I could get ready and get there, they would be leaving. But this song came to mind, “Never Walk Alone”:
“When you walk through a storm.
(Never Walk Alone by Oscar Hammerstein II)
Hold your head up high.
And don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm.
There’s a golden sky.
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind.
Walk on through the rain.
For your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on. With hope in your heart.
And you’ll never walk alone.
You’ll never walk alone.”
We don’t have to walk alone even though we may be alone. Jesus is walking with us. Next time an elderly person needs your attention, even if it’s just a little company, take the time. Things can wait, but you may be the last person they see before going home to heaven. And next time you find yourself alone, remember that Jesus is right beside you. He is walking right beside you, holding your hand.
Have a great day, everyone.
