Distractions

by | Sep 2, 2023 | Peace, Surrender

“Now, as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, ‘Lord, do you not care that my sister I’ll I’l  lone? Tell her then to help me.’ But the Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.’”

(Luke 10:38-42 ESV)

Google defines distraction as “a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.”

My life the past few weeks has been full of distractions. My routine every morning has been full of distractions. As soon as I get up, I send out the daily devotions. Then, I read my Bible and spend time with God. Lately, it has been a chore to even read my Bible like I should be.

Yesterday at church, we were singing, and I saw the throne room. We were singing “You Are Holy.” This is the part: “And the train of His robe filled the temple.” I saw the train of God’s robe. As the song says, it filled the temple. But what I saw was that the train was enclosing everyone, protecting us. Not, just those in the throne room, but us here too. The train circled around us, bringing peace, contentment, joy. Whatever you need. While we were singing, I could feel the peace of God flooding me.

Did it solve all my problems? Not yet. But I have the reassurance that God is still working on them. He gave me this message. “Surrender everything to me and let me fix them. Don’t try fixing them alone.”

Do you have problems? Surrender them to God. Let Him take care of them.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
