Love

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

(1 Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV)

“Let all that you do be done in love.”

(1 Corinthians 16:14 ESV)

I was sitting in my chair last night thinking about what to write on. God was unusually quiet on the subject. I was looking around the room when a plaque I have on my wall kind of jumped out at me. It’s a small plaque. Black and white with gold letters that say love. Now, I have had this plaque for quite a while. I don’t even remember where I got it. After my eyes rested on the plaque, God got chatty.  He said to write on love.

Love is missing a lot from our society nowadays. There is so much crime and just plain hatred in the world. We were not created for this. We made to love one another, not kill them.

God loves us, and we should love one another as God loves us. Oh, I know. Some people can be pretty hard to love. But those are the ones we really need to love on. We need to show the world the kind of love that is God. By doing that, we can spread love to others, and just maybe they will spread it around, too.

Talk to someone new today, even if it’s just “hi”. “How are you doing?” Maybe you are the only person to talk to them today. Check in on the elderly. This heat and humidity can be rough on them. Maybe ask if they need anything. I had a friend ask me the other day if I needed anything. Even just run an errand. She was willing to help. It’s the little things that mean a lot. See if there is someone you can help today.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
