“Casting all your anxieties on him because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 ESV)
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.” (Romans 8:18 ESV)
I was watching a TV show last night, and the phrase, “Tough times don’t last; tough people do!” was said by the main character. It got me to thinking, what do we do when tough times come? Are we like, I think it was the Marines: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going?” Or do we fold like a house of cards?
I think we tend to be both ways sometimes. As my mom used to say, “Pick your battles.” When picking your battles, remember to ask Jesus for help too. Jesus will fight alongside us, and if it gets too much for us, He will take over. Jesus will fight our battles.
I am having a battle with my car right now. One thing gets fixed, and something else decides to act up. But I am fighting this battle on my knees. Figuratively, not literally. I can’t get on my knees anymore. But Jesus knows that. And I believe it is alright as long as I keep praying. And pray I do.
Some people have told me not to bother Jesus about things like cars or minor problems. Why not? Jesus is just as concerned about these things as I am.
“But He already knows everything that’s going on!”
I know that, but if I don’t pray about them, how will I know if I am on the list for answered prayers?
Yes, Jesus will fight for us, but we need to fight for ourselves, too. We need to battle the devil with all our might. So toughen up, put on your armor of protection, and head out to battle. Jesus is waiting for you to ask for His help. So do what I am going to do right now, ask Jesus for help.
Have a blessed day, everyone.
