Attack! Attack!

by | May 31, 2023 | Endurance, Temptation

“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation, he will also provide the way of escape that you may be able to endure it.” (1 Corinthians 10:13 ESV)

“Submit yourselves, therefore, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7 ESV)

I had a rough day yesterday. I could not get my blood pressure up and felt lousy all day. I was dizzy every time I stood up. It made me a bit slow on the uptake, but I finally got with the game plan. I recognized it for what it was. An attack of the devil. He is trying to derail me anyway he can. And he almost succeeded. I felt lousy all day. I didn’t sleep well the night before. My chest felt tight, and I felt kind of down and depressed. He threw something unexpected at me in the mail. He pulled out all the stops yesterday. But no more.

We need to learn once, and for all that, the devil is a liar and will stop at nothing to pull us away from God. He doesn’t want us to believe that God is good and he isn’t. He is filled with hate while God is filled with love. The devil is darkness, and God is light.

Which would you prefer, darkness or light? The choice really is yours. God gave us all free will to decide for ourselves. God grieves when we choose wrong, but if we do not turn totally away and will repent, He will forgive us.

That really is good news. Sometimes, it can be so hard to forgive someone. But not with God. He is quick to forgive us our sins.  And then He will forget them too. The devil keeps bringing them up again and again. So if we just repent, ask God for forgiveness, He will forgive and forget. Good news if you ask me.

Have a blessed day, everyone.
