There’s a song called, “First Things First” by Consumed By Fire:

Surrender all my wants to you.
Keep the first thing first.

The part that got to me was “I surrender all my wants to you.” Have I done that? Have I surrendered all to Jesus? My mind says yes but my heart says no. So what am I holding back? I don’t know.
We even sing about surrendering all to Jesus.
“I surrender all.

I surrender all.
All to Thee My blessed Savior.
I surrender all.”
It should be easy to surrender to such a wonderful Savior so why do we hold back? Human nature? Uncertainty? Jesus wants us to surrender all to Him. He wants our needs, desires, wants, care and concerns.
Why is it so hard to give it all to Him? This is a question I have been asking myself for a while now. I attend church and actually listen to my pastor as she preaches. Other times too, just to be clear. I’m a good person, I think. I’ve given my life to Jesus. So why is it so difficult to let go and let Jesus take care of it?
I often wonder if others have the same hard time I do in surrendering all to Jesus. Do they just say, “Here, take care of this Jesus”? Or do they struggle like me? Others look so confident and sure. Is that just an act? Or do they really have it all figured out?
Questions to ponder about in your spare time. Have you surrendered all? Are you still struggling with something you just can’t quite surrender?
