Google defines brokenhearted as: “overwhelmed by grief or disappointment.”

Have you ever been brokenhearted over something?

I have a few times. Mostly over a loved one passing away. When my mom passed away, it didn’t hit me until the night after her funeral. It wasn’t because I was going home to an empty apartment, mom had been in a nursing home and I lived alone. It was because I lost my best friend. I couldn’t go talk to her anytime I wanted to. I couldn’t ask her opinion or ask her help figuring out a crochet pattern or recipe. I was on my own.

But, truthfully, I wasn’t on my own. I had Jesus right beside me, carrying me through the rough patches. I had Jesus to guide me and hold my hand when I felt lost and alone. I had Jesus! I still do, by the way. Just the thought of Jesus makes me smile. He gets me through the day and makes sure I do it with a smile. 

Most of the time I can smile through anything. But when the times come that I just can’t seen to find my smile, Jesus holds me close and says everything will be alright.

So no matter what you may be going through, Jesus is beside you. Whether you have lost someone important in your life or just going through a storm, Jesus is there.
